The one-star hall of fame
badreview.forum is a tongue-in-cheek archive of the internet's most spectacular bad reviews — the petty, the unhinged, and the gloriously wrong.
You know the ones. One star because it rained. One star because the food came too fast. One star for a steakhouse with no vegan options. We collect them, we rank them, and we award the very best of the very worst. It's satire — every review here is fictional, and we're firmly on the side of the real restaurants, hotels and humble plumbers of the world.
How Pans work
Reputation here is measured in Pans — a "pan" being a brutal review. When the community upvotes a bad review you've posted for its sheer audacity or comedy, you earn Pans and climb the critics' masthead.
- Newcomer — 0+ Pans. You left one review. It was harsh. Welcome.
- Reviewer — 500+ Pans. You review everything now, mostly unfavourably.
- Critic — 2,500+ Pans. Your one-stars are quoted in other threads.
- Top Critic — 10,000+ Pans. Businesses fear the email notification.
- Editor-in-Chief — 40,000+ Pans. You set the standard. The standard is one star.
The House Rules
- Keep it fictional. Invent the review, never name a real business or person.
- Punch at the take, not the worker. The joke is the reviewer, not the staff.
- Pettier is better. The smaller the complaint, the higher the art.
- Bring the score. Every post needs a rating. It should almost always be 1.0.
- No real harassment. This is comedy; cruelty isn't the bit.
